March Challenge.... Stickers!

Hello!!!! And Happy March 1st. This month we're asking you to use stickers. A bunch of them. The more the better. You may think you don't have a lot of stickers, but if you buy paper packs you have loads of them! Have you been using them? Well we aren't setting a quantity that you must use but we'd like to see you dig into your stash and create something fabulous with stickers. Use them for your background, or embellishments, think outside of the box. Last year during our anniversary month, our lovely DT member Lena had a collage challenge, see HERE, Why not make a sticker collage? Or for more ideas here's what our DT did.

Scrapbookers Anonymous February Challenge

I love February. And I'm sure there are going to be many valentine themed challenges out there this month but are we going to let that stop us from having one too? Heck no! We want you to use hearts, and stitching! To be more specific use 3 hearts and stitch something somewhere on your project. Remember to use this as an opportunity to dig into your stash. It can be old patterned paper with hearts, die cut hearts, stickle a heart, if you haven't used your stickles in awhile... you get the picture. And the stitching... like I said stitch something.

This was a fun challenge and we have many cute creative ideas from our DT. Here they are...

This month we have a combo challenge... you need to dig deep into you stash and create something HOLIDAY themed... using a TAG somewhere, and there must also be GLITTER! All 3 got it? HOLIDAY, TAG, and GLITTER. And as it's December, it's the perfect month to make a holiday layout...glitter and the holidays always go together and putting the tag on should be easy peasy right????

Some Changes

As many of you know we just celebrated our one year anniversary here at Scrapbookers Anonymous which brings about some changes. Sadly, Sue and Frank will be leaving our design team, but we hope to see them back here commenting, or even better, playing along with the challenges! Frank, your layouts are incredibly unique and you have such a great eye. Sue, sniff sniff, you’ve been with us since we started and we will miss you. But to both of you, we’re looking forward to seeing what you create in the future. On a happier note the rest of our rockin’ design team is staying.

The other change you may or may not have noticed. Is that we’ve done away with making cards with the scraps from your SA layout. This seemed to confuse people so we decided to simplify. We have no limit on how many times you can submit for each challenge so if you would like to make a card, altered item, layout, whatever... or all of the above you can do so. As long as it meets the challenge criteria and you link each item up with separate blog posts, each item will give you a chance to win the goods.

Don’t forget there is still plenty of time to play along with one of our challenges this month. You could win some Echo Park goodness. And our November stash challenge will go live the morning of the 1st, and oh my, it's a fun one!

October Challenge!!!!

Hello!!! Are you ready for another monthly challenge??? Hopefully you are finishing up the mini BIRTHDAY challenges from September. You have till midnight October 7th to link those up. The links are on the left side bar of the blog. We had fun celebrating. The DT really helped make it an extra special month and thank you so much to all our friends and followers for playing along each month and coming back to see what we have in store for ya.

On to this month's challenge... it's all about the DIE CUTS. Yes, you heard right... I know a lot of you have some sort of die cut machine that collects more dust than your carpet. =) Oh, wait, thats me... lol.. if you are like me than you need to dig that die cutter out and show us your skills. It can be made with an electronic cutter such as a Cricut or Silhouette or with a manual one such as a Sizzix or Spellbinder, or maybe you don't have a machine, but you have tons of precut die cuts piling up in your stash.

Long Title Mini Challenge

Happy Birthday, Scrapbookers Anonymous! I've had the privilege of working with Theresa and Lea from the beginning. Too much fun! Today it's my turn to issue a Happy Birthday Mini Challenge. My mini-challenge is this:

Create a layout with a long title and use up a chunk of your alphabet stash!

I love longer titles. Here are three reasons why.

Reason #1: You can mix the font styles, sizes, and colors, resulting in a fun and eye-catching title.

Reason #2: A longer title becomes a prominent design element on the page, like the way this title fills in my grid.

Reason #3: Telling your story in a longer title reduces the need for lengthy journaling. It's all there in the title and photos.

Now it's your turn! You have until October 7th at midnight EST to complete your project and get your link added. Winners will be announced by the end of the day on October 10th.

Mini Stash Challenge -Bling Bling Bling

Hi everyone! So have you been having fun with our mini challenges? Our DT has really been rockin' them. For my challenge I want you to dig into your stash of bling! Pretty simple huh? I find that I loved bling and used it on almost every layout... a few years back. Now it's usually neglected in my overflowing bling drawer. I've actually started to let the kids use it. So here are a few examples of how I've used bling in the past...

Mini Challenge...............Stamping.

Hi it's me,Deb,as you all know we are celebrating Scrapbookers Anonymous first anniversary all this month,we've had lots of fun challenges set by some of the DT over the last three weeks and today it is my turn to host a mini challenge. I've decided on stamping as this was how I got into papercrafting many years ago and is still my favourite technique. When I make a card I nearly always have some stamped image on it but I never seem use them on my LO's,so I thought I would challenge you all and myself to do some stamping on your project whether it's a LO,card home decor or a 3D project.
First I stamped and heat embossed a 12x12 piece of white card to make my own background paper,most of my ink pads are dye ink and to use embossing powder you should use a pigment ink so to get around that I inked my stamp first with clear Versamark ink and then a coloured dye ink on top of the Versamark. If you then stamp onto card and immediately cover with clear embossing powder,the powder will cling to the ink,then heat it with your heat tool to set. You will end up with a lovely raised,glossy image.

I wanted some stamped embellishments on my LO so I stamped some bunting/pennants to put along the bottom of the photo,another idea is to stamp some plain paper flowers or maybe stamp and decorate a tag.

I don't know about you but when I cover bare chipboard in paper it takes me forever and then it never looks neat so a really quick way to alter them is to stamp on them.

I used a background stamp to cover my chipboard title,it is so much quicker !!!!!! I hope you'll join me and I look forward to seeing your stamped project, for a chance to win one of many prizes just add your blog post to the link below.

Happy One-th Birthday Scrapbookers Anonymous!!...CONGRATULATIONS to Lea & Theresa for creating this wonderful challenge blog happened!!....YAY for that!!!

Yes...Today it's my turn...for the mini challenge... !!!!

I'm a very simple... and lazy crafter!!!...So I tried to create this mini challenge as simple as possible...[LOL]

My challenge for you today... is to use a Manila Shipping Tag[can be any tag too]

The Rule of the challenge:

- The Tag has to be visible on your project.

- It's all up to you... it can be a layout, canvas, card, altered art, minis etc.

Okay here I'm sharing how I converted a Manila Shipping Tag [I bought from American Tag Altered Tag Set]

Original idea is from ALEX...{shes amazing}...

I used a white cardstock from Bazzill to create the pages inside... and I covered them with Kaisercraft PP..hand-stitched the middle to create the pages[book bind]

I bought the elastic red band from a local shop [cleggs]..improvise from my 1st attempt...

Look how tiny this mini is...

Wishing Lea and Theresa and their Scrapbookers Anonymous blog a VERY happy first birthday!! I wish you many many more - because I love you, and because I have a HUGE stash to use up - but especially because I love you!

Did you ever purchase a scrapbooking tool, and never used it??? Used it once or twice??? Used it so little that you can hardly justify the price you paid for it?? My challenge to you for today is to use the tool in question for your layout, post it in your blog and link it below by October 7th.

The tool I chose to use for my layout was a Fastenator stapler by EK Success.

I bought it on clearance, along with discounted staples about two years ago, and have only used it once or twice. Nevermind the bargain price I paid for it - it still has not paid for itself from lack of use.

I used the Fastenator to staple on the ribbons I used for this layout to add a little flair and dimension to my design. If you have one of these tools and have discovered other uses for it, please share in the comments to this posting or at my blog posting. Here is my layout:

Lena's Mini Stash Challenge

Are you ready to be wowed by another fabulous challenge. Lena has provided us with step by step instructions on how she creates her collages! I feel like I've been let in on a fabulous secret!

Here's what Lena has to say:

1. I always start with looking through my magazines for pictures I might use. A body, a head, the eyes and mouth... just tear out all the pictures I think which could be useful...

2. Then I make a choice with pictures I really want to use and cut them out. I place them on my paper which I'm going to use to see if it will fit...

3. I'm making my background, using three colors of paint (orange, bright red and dark red) and blend it on my background paper. The lightest color goes in the center, the darkest on the edges.

When the paint is dry, I add some glimmer mist to it using a mask of circles and sequin waste.

4. I glue the images on my background paper with Mod Podge and outline it with puffy paint.

5. My finished piece.
I used stamps, butterfly immages, sequins, tape, more puffy paint and markers.

I want to challenge everybody to also make a collage by the theme: "celebration or party". It is free to interpret this theme to your own imagination!!! You have until October 7th to submit your collage.

Mini Stash Challenge...Game pieces

Hello Everyone! Lydia here with a mini stash challenge for you. I don't know about you but in my stashing, I gather random bits and pieces of anything I think would be cool to use on a layout or project. Included in those random bits are several sorts of game pieces. I thought this would be the perfect time to pull them out and use them on a layout. On this layout, I have included playing cards, Scrabble tiles, a bingo tile, and a card from a random game. I still have plenty of game pieces in my stash for plenty of other products.

I hope you'll dig in your stash and play along with this mini stash challenge. Don't forget to link up your projects, you have until October 7th to do so. I can't wait to check them out!

September 5th, Mini Stash Challenge

Hi there folks,

Are you ready for some football???? oh, wait, yeah, that's a different channel.. lol... jk. I'm feeling goofy. On to the important stuff... the DT has lined up a lot of fun little extras for you this month seeing as how it's our Birthday celebration.... We are going to do mini "stash" challenges all month long. Each one has it's own mini prize..pretty cool, huh?
So, it's my crack at the mini today and I have something easy and fun for ya. My challenge is to make a project with no photos and journaling only. Journal about some "thing", some "one", or some "place" that you have fond memories of, but maybe no pictures. As an example, journal about a childhood toy and use some fun sheets out of a children's book. The sky's the limit on the ideas. I've found that some of my favorite layouts don't have photos.

must use some stash, the older the better =)

how exciting is that???? when we started this blog we didn't have any major plans. Just a vision and a need to use up our stash... and tada, this blog was born. We never really thought about a DT or how we would evolve, but it has taken on a life of its own. And we LOVE it!!!! We said when it's no longer fun, we won't do it anymore and we still can say that we are having a great time... new friends, lots of inspiration, and stash usage.. what can be better than that???

So, on Sept 1st, 2011, Scrapbookers Anonymous will be turning 1 year old and we want to celebrate all month long..

Hello!!! This is the first month with our new mid month prompt for our A to Z Challenge. This month's letter is "A". That's right an "A". What does this mean for you??

We want you to dig into your stash and find an item that starts with the letter "A". It can be a manufacturer, or any item in your stash that starts with an "A", like an apple. Do you get the idea?? Update on our Challenges!!!

Hi there!!!!

So... we've been thinking.. we do that a lot.. lol. Lea and I, with input from our Design Team, have been working on a new idea for the blog. Nothing major, but we thought it would be fun to add more ways to use your stash each month. We all know we need more ideas and fun ways to use up that stash, Right??? We are here to help you.

Our main challenge will still be posted each month of the 1st, but we had this fun idea of doing an A to Z challenge. After thinking how we could incorporate this into what we do, we decided to post two challenge prompts each month. The A to Z challenge will go live on the 15th of the month.

You may be wondering, where will the cards be posted??? well, we have that covered. =) You can still post a card that you made with your scraps, but the DT card inspiration will be posted along with their layouts. That way you can see how they use those scraps and see the association with the layouts.

What does all this mean to you??? 3 different ways to be entered into the MONTHLY PRIZE DRAWING. You will have till the end of the month to get all your submissions in. We will still randomly draw a winner each month and have our Faves posted.

We hope you will find the extra prompt fun and another way to dig into that stash of yours.

A paper folding tutorial by Julie J!!!

I had a scrap of black and white striped paper left from this month’s Scrapbookers Anonymous challenge, so here’s how to fold a paper shirt.

Start with a rectangle of paper (mine was about 11 X 20 cm) and fold in half lengthways (1). Choose a fairly lightweight paper to reduce the bulk of your finished shirt. Unfold and fold the two long edges into the middle (2) with the pattern side on the outside. Fold back the top corners (3) – these will form the sleeves when you turn it over.

Flip the paper over and at the opposite end, fold down the end (4). This should be a narrow fold and will dictate the depth of the collar. Turn the paper back over and fold in the corners at the ‘collar end’ (5). Yep. I know you now have the sleeves and collar at the opposite ends of your shirt but we’re about to fix that! Fold up the bottom, so that the top tucks under the collar (6).

You can then decorate with buttons, or brads for buttons, add braces or whatever you want. I thought this looked a little like a baseball/basketball ref’s shirt, but since I don’t know any baseball or basketball players and I still had some paper left, I thought I’d make a tie.

I used a 6 X 6 cm sheet. The instructions for this were a tad confusing, so I improvised and I think it turned out OK, even though the paper was a bit too thick for this fiddly item.

Fold diagonally and unfold. Crease 2 adjacent sides in to meet the centre crease (7) with the pattern on the outside. Turn over and fold down the top point and then fold it back on itself (8). Fold back over and fold down the top point. Fold in the sides (9) to give a tie shape. You need to make sure that the top is the same width as the upfold on the front – and fold both sides – I’ve just shown one side folded to make it clearer. Turn back over and adhere to shirt.

This shirt and tie combo made me think of Del Boy and needed some bling, so I used a diamonte brad for a tie clip.

I’m sure you ladies (and gents?) could come up with a better sentiment for a card but I was trying to use up what I had. This would make a good thank-you card for a male teacher – you could do it in school colours.

The July Challenge is to make a page with that hard to use color. Here's my layout and a few tips to make the whole process more enjoyable, I hope.

First of all, my hard to use color is purple. Which is very strange, because growing up it was my favorite color. I even had a purple bedroom with purple shag carpet. Yikes.

Tip #1: Create your layout with small doses of the hard to use color. Just a few touches here and there will be fine.

Tip #2: Another key to working with a difficult color is to make the page monochromatic except for maybe some little accent colors. All I used on this layout was the purple patterned paper, black, and white.

Tip #3: Use the least offensive shade of the hard to use color that you can find. This pale purple cardstock that holds my journaling is a pretty lilac and I actually like it!

Hi! My name is Lydia Wiley and I'm an American living abroad in New Zealand. My husband of almost 17 years and 3 boys (11, almost 10, and 7) are along on this journey with me. All my life I've loved crafts, school supplies and stickers. So scrapbooking was a natural fit for me and I've been at it for 16 years. Photography is another love of mine. I love watching my boys grow up from behind my camera. Capturing the every day moments is just as important to me as capturing the milestones and special occasions. Tuesday Tutorial

Here's the process I used to create my layout for the Scrapbookers Anonymous June Challenge, using mini paper pads. Hope it gives you some ideas for your own submission!

My page starts with photos, a story outline and a design idea. I almost always start with these 3 items. This layout will be about our trip to New Mexico. I usually pull patterned paper based on the colors in my pictures, but these photos don't offer much choice. What am I going to do about that?

I have these photos from a few of the restaurants we went to. Very colorful! Even though they won't appear on the layout, they provide inspiration for a southwestern color scheme.

I selected these 6x6 papers from Cosmo Cricket Salt Air. The theme of this paper pad is not at all southwestern, but the colors reminded me of the restaurant photos.

My finished two-page layout places the photos across the top, supported by the stripe and patterned paper pieces on the bottom of the page. A thin strip of color across the top ties it together. I matted the photos on colored cardstock and used raised adhesive.

Bringing some white onto the colored paper helps the title and journaling stand out. I also used my favorite accent color, black.

Where does the time go???? the year is almost half over. yikes.

The June challenge is a fun one. I know you all have those mini paper pads laying around somewhere.. I never seem to get around to using them, not even for cards, but this month's challenge let's you brush the dust off of them.. You need to use at least 3 sheets of paper from a mini paper pad. Easy, right???

Meet Julie J!

I'm a full time working Mom. I'm a Chemical Engineer and work as a Consultant in the Water Industry. I moved back to my hometown of Dudley just before my daughter's third birthday to be closer to my family.

I've always done some sort of craft, but started scrapbooking in 2005. I stretch my stash by using non-scrapbooking items, I hope to share some of those ideas with you all. Since starting scrapbooking I've got more into photography and usually have a camera with me 'just in case'. It is a big source of amusement for my brother. My favourite photography subjects are my daughter, flowers and family. If I'm totally honest flowers are my favourite - they don't move, pull silly faces or refuse to co-operate. However, it's only been fairly recently that I've done any LOs without a photo of my daughter.

So that's me and I'm really pleased to be part of the Design Team at Scrapbookers Anonymous and I'm looking forward to the next six months of challenges.

Meet Anne Pennington!

I grew up in a military family, with lots of opportunity to travel and live around Canada and Europe - but I love my life in a small village in Ontario, Canada where my kids have been free to roam and play or hang out with their friends. I am a mother of five great kids, two still at home and attending high school. I am a publisher and have been involved with print design and training for years. I believe in life-long learning, and I study part-time at Queen’s University.

I have been scrapbooking for 3 years. A couple of girlfriends from school days invited me to scrap with them for a week 3 years ago, and I told them I’d rather gouge my eyes out. They bribed me with wine, and so I came out to visit. From that moment on I have been passionate about scrapbooking.

I have met so many awesome new friends through my passions of scrapbooking and photography! My favourite scrapbooking subjects are my children and my beautiful mother, who passed away in 2009.

Scrapbookers Anonymous challenges are an awesome way to encourage scrappers to use stash that they may be too timid to use otherwise!!!

Hello Everyone my name is Frank Garcia, I have been scrapbooking my memories for about 3 years now. I live in Los Angeles California with my lovely family. I got started in scrapbooking when I realized I had too many pictures and photo albums that were getting full!!! So on a visit to my local scrapbook store I went into the scrapbooking section, like an act of magic my shopping cart was filled with wonderful papers, and all things scrapbook, thus my journey into this lovely craft began. I look forward to sharing everything I know and have learned throughout the years, and most of all having fun while doing it! I love this craft like many of you and would like to make great friends along the way. I would like to thank Theresa and Lea for the wonderful opportunity to be on the DT.

Hi everyone, we thought we'd showcase our new DT members. We announced them and didn't say much more but we wanted to properly introduce them. So everyone Meet Eli!

Hello ,My name is Elisabetta Colavero (Eli) and I live in the North of Italy. I have a daughter, Noemi, 7 years old, who is my favorite subject for my projects, and two old cats. I started scrapbooking about 4 years ago, and I prefer layouts and at times mini albums. The cards, simply hate me! For the past 3 years, I’ve worked for the Italian Scrapbooking Association as designer and forum administrator. I'm also on the Paper Thrills, Urban Lily, Frosted Design and Twisted Sketches Design Teams. I graduated in Agriculture, and I work for the Province of Cremona, Agricultural department. But I'm so lucky, I can work from home! So I have a lot of time to devote to my hobbies: reading, sporting, gardening, and of course scrapbooking. For me, scrapbooking is like a drug... It allows me to express my artistic side and at the same time create something that preserves my fondest memories forever.

I also love summertime, pizza, white chocolate and ice cream.

The DT layouts amaze me. Can you tell what papers are stamped????

Okay and as far as changes. Well this is a challenge blog to help us use what's in our stash right? Well why not give all of you another chance to win each month if you make a card with the scraps from the layout you made. If you post your card and layout on the same blog post, just link up twice and you'll be counted twice. Of course you are not expected to meet all the challenge requirements on the card but we do ask that you use the item we're challenging you to use on the card. So once you're done with your stampy layout, make a card with the scraps and make sure there's a stamp on there! Easy as that! Another change we're making is that we're going to picking and posting our favorite cards or layouts for the month and if you're picked you'll have the prestige of being a Scrapbookers Anonymous Choice Junkie! We reserve the right to change the name of that before the end of the month, actually if you have any ideas let us know, but we want it to be along the same lines as Scrapbookers Anonymous and Addicts! Our entire DT will be voting for the Choice Junkies so it should be fun!

May's prize is some wonderful Tim Holtz distress papers (1 sheet of each pattern). Have you seen them? They are super awesome. Resist Kraft paper. Who knew. lol.. =) and of course you'll get some other fun embellies in your prize pack as well.

DT Call Extended!!!!!

Hey guess what! We’re extending our DT call to Monday April 25th at Midnight EST!!!

What you need to do to be considered for the DT is the following:

We want you to dig into your stash of stamps. Use those stamps to make at least one piece of patterned paper for your layout and 3 stamped embellishments. Feel free to use a sketch, and combine this with another challenge if you like. We do ask however that this is a layout and not a card.

Email us.................

1. Your layout
2. Ensure the layout is no more than 500kb in size.
3. Send us your name, email address, and a link to your blog or gallery
4. And lastly, tell us why we should pick you.

What do we expect from our DT????

* be prompt in submitting your monthly challenges. we understand life gets in the way sometimes, so we would like an email if that happens and you can't fulfill any of the challenges. If you don't have the scrappy stash for what's needed in a particular month, don't sweat it. We understand.

Hello there blog and challenge hoppers. =) How are you?
Our little challenge blog is growing and we couldn't be more excited. It's because of all the great people playing along with our challenges and our inspirational Design Team. Woot!!!! =)

We are looking to add a few more design team members who will be capable of committing to a minimum of a 6 month term. May 1st through October 30. We already have the challenges lined up for another 6 months, so you will receive the challenges ahead of time. You will have plenty of time to work on them. That doesn't sound too demanding does it???? =)

I know... you are thinking, what do I have to do? Well, we want you to dig into your stash of stamps. Use those stamps to make at least one piece of patterned paper for your layout and 3 stamped embellishments. Feel free to use a sketch, and combine this with another challenge if you like. We do ask however that this is a layout and not a card.

April 2011 Challenge

Okay now, sit back and keep an open mind. This months challenge is eyelets. Stop! Don't go anywhere, remember what I said about an open mind! Now eyelets, yes we know, they are not fun to use, but we also know that if you've been scrapbooking as long as us, you have a lot of them in the depths of your stash and you're probably not doing a whole lot with them. So why not dig them out and use say at least 23 of them! Stop! Sit down! Yes, 23! If you have to dig them out anyway why not use a whole bunch of them?! So if you're still here, take a look at what the DT did. There are some great ideas to use up those old eyelets and we never said you had to actually set the eyelets... just use them ;)

Hello there..

We've been working hard behind the scenes thinking of how we can make our blog even better. More to follow on that... but, one of the things we need to do first is to add a few more designers. So we plan on having a DT Call. So, keep checking back for the details. The DT Call will be up soon.

Also, we will be participating in a blog hop on April 7th. It will be fun and we may even have a special little challenge and prize involved. But you must stop back then to find out.. I know, we tease..we can't let all the details out ahead of time.. lol...

Lastly, we want to say thank you to all our current followers and challenge players. It's hard to believe, but we have over 100 followers. We never imagined how our little blog would develop, but we are happy to be growing and the most important thing, having fun!!! Thanks for coming along with us and sharing in our addiction... =)

March... how can it be??? Time is surely speeding by is it not???

We have a new challenge for you... we really had fun with this one. The challenge is to use at least 7 flowers on your layout, the premade kind, not homemade.... the idea is to dig into your stash and use the flowers you've been meaning to use but for some reason have not.. think outside the box. And we won't stop you if you use more than 7... as we always say, more is better... =)

January 2011 Challenge!!!!!

Woot!!!! Happy New Year. Can you believe it is now 2011????? I can't. Where does time go?

Well, we have a new challenge for you. Lea and I are self professed addicts. One of the items we collect is buttons.. in all shapes,sizes, and colors. We haven't met a button we don't like.. We love buttons. It is so very hard for us to pass them by. They are really an underrated embellie. So many uses. What we want you to do for this month is.... to use 17 buttons on ONE layout. Yes, you heard that right. 17 buttons. =) You can use more than 17, but there must be a minimum of 17. Doesn't that sound fun????

I love buying rub-ons. Well I actually love buying just about anything scrapbook related but I'm getting off the point. So I buy packages of fabo rub-ons and then a year or two later I look at them and think "Eek I should really use these things." So this months challenge is to pull out those rub-ons you once loved and make yourself use them. We'd like to see you use a whole bunch of them on one layout, try making some of your embellishments with them, oh and no patterned paper allowed.

And in the spirit of this months challenge, December's winner will receive these fun rub-ons.

And in the spirit of the holiday season these fabo My Minds Eye papers! These are some fun, unique papers. There are 18 sheets of embossed and textured loveliness.... just in time to scrap some of those holiday layouts.. or as you know, our November challenge was proof that Christmas papers really can have another life.. =)

To submit for the December challenge, you must have your layout submitted by 9pm on December 30th. We are ending a day early due to the New Years holiday. We will be ringing in the New Year on the 31st. January's challenge will be posted on schedule on New Year's Day...
